Hinterhaus American Single Malt Whiskey - Discovery

Batch 4 features a malt bill comprised of 88% Gallagher’s Best and 12% Pacific Victor from Admiral Maltings in Alameda, CA. Hinterhaus open-air fermented the wash before distilling it and maturing it in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-wheat whiskey barrels from Speyside Cooperage (Ohio) and Kelvin Cooperage (Kentucky), respectively.

We distill this whiskey using thoughtfully sourced, high quality barley of varying maltbills. Our open fermentation, along with the use of local Sierra Nevada water, captures the character of our mountain surroundings while our climate and elevation nurtures unique aging attributes. The result is an American Single Malt Whiskey with a provenance and sense of place you can nose and taste.
